Known as Not In My BackYard, and position of protest that is highlighted here within the environmental movement. If Wind Farms are seen as a renewable energy source, there where should they be built. Some compromise should be met, but this particular issue seems contradictory.

GLOBAL WARMING AND SEA LEVEL Pagebrought on by an article in Baltimore's City Paper. While we differ some in our opinions, there is a wide range of information available. Our purpose here is to present what we see and what you send us.

What You Should See
You may have heard about the report that January 2007 was the warmest 'on record' for the planet. Well Baltimore was 6.4F above normal. Yet we did turn the corner. February ended 6.4F below normal. Therefor the first 2 months in Baltimore averaged to be exactly normal. The dramatic turn in our temerature this season was just the balance of the atmosphere. Not GLOBAL WARMING.
That brings up this story from a recent NASA study.
The fear from a warming arctic is that less snow and ice, would enhance warming...and throw the planetary balance out of whack. That may not be entirely correct based on the this research. Apparently as the sea ice and snow cover has decreased in the past 5 years, cloud cover has increased. the result, the clouds have a similar albedo affect in reflecting solar radiation and preventing overheating the ground. This is an example of how the atmosphere tries to maintain some sort of equilibrium. Change on element, and another may compensate. Read more on the NASA study here.
Asia took center stage on the debate on the climate. Methane is back with it's higher heat holding capacity. Bacteria on rice patties produces enough methane to rival CO2 emissions. Moral debate shifts to food vs. fuel. Read more here.
MORE SUN
First: This image is from NASA Sun-Earth Viewer. You can see the sun in many different Electro Magnetic spectrums. This is from STEREO (Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory) and Solar Terrestrial Probes program launched in October of 2006. NASA unveiled it's STEREO in 3D. You can see the sun in 3D.
Solar Output has been measured showing an increase which many attribute as a contribution to warming on Earth and nearby planets. Melting on Mars confirmed that in February.
Global Cooling seen in Sunspots. Canada's Financial Post has been doing a series of reports pointing to cooling of the climate as more likely in the next few decades, and more devastating than any potential warming. This story shares some of the evidence.
How could we forget this story from two years ago? A $10,000 bet between two Russian solar physicists Galina Mashnich and Vladimir Bashkirtsev have agreed the wager with a British climate expert, James Annan. It should be noted that MIT's Richard Lindzen first publicized his thoughts on this back in the 1970s. The climate field swarmed, and recently switched to the opposite result. Annan has been trying to refute Lindzen's work. Lindzen proposed that cooling would begin in the next 10 years.
HURRICANES:
There are opposing views of hurricane activity, but only the dire make the mainstream.
Reuters reported recently that research links warming to increase in hurricanes. This completely contradicts the reports from the National Hurrican Center and Dr. William Gray. Gray denounces any link based on a 30 year proven cycle in Atlantic hurrican Activity. He even testified his research to congress.
ABC-News has run special reports on Global Warming recently. The links below will take you to the full slate of stories. We are just passing along the media reports. If you have comments, then please email us or call in and share them on our show. We will revisit Global Warming on April 23rd.
